What is negligent security?
Negligent security is the failure to provide the security required by the average reasonable person under the circumstances then and there existing. What does that mean? It might mean a convenience store owner who fails to protect its patrons in a high-crime area. It might an apartment building, or a property owner that fails to protect the visitors to their building in a high-crime area. The way you prove those cases is by showing that the land owner, or property owner failed to protect people, like other property owners in the neighborhood do. Negligent security cases usually require the use of experts to show that the location was a high crime area and the owner did not take the security precautions that other owners in the area took.
