Can a bar be held responsible for drunk driver that injures or kills?
Bars can be held liable if a drunk driver kills or injures someone. It’s what’s called a Dram Shop Act case and what they’re typically based on is whether or not the bar or bar owner was aware that the person they were serving alcohol to was already very intoxicated. If they’re over served and they go out on the roads and they cause a crash the person who’s injured or the loved ones of someone who is killed can pursue a case against the bar owners.
